Active Learning Center’s preschool and pre-kindergarten programs have an emphasis on the importance of a healthy, active approach to life. These programs continue to aid the children in their development of strong educational, social, emotional, physically fit lives.
ALC’s curriculum and goals are based on the PA state learning standards for early childhood education. This helps guide our teachers in providing the children with a positive educational experience. We use The Creative Curriculum, which is a research based curriculum that reflects the new requirements for addressing academic content by integrating content standards into each lesson plan. This enables your child’s teachers to use a variety of approaches and take an active role in your child’s learning. Through observations, your child’s teacher will be able to plan developmentally appropriate activities for your child based on his/her needs as well as the needs of the entire group.
At ALC, we take a literacy approach to lesson planning, which means that each month your child’s teacher will choose books and will base lesson planning and activities around those books. These lesson plans are posted weekly and can be found in the classrooms. There will be many factors in choosing the books, but the most important one will be the children’s interest.
A unique benefit at Active Learning Center is our martial arts training program. All children enrolled in our preschool and prekindergarten programs are encouraged to participate in the martial arts classes at no additional cost. These classes are provided by the instructors from Lehigh Valley Martial Arts, a highly respected school focused on giving the children the tools they need to succeed. The instructors believe that attention span, self-discipline, and self-confidence are the keys to anyone’s success. Additional family members such as siblings, parents, and grandparents may take the classes at a discounted rate.
